There is hardly a project in the Canterbury area that the name Harcourt Insulation has not been associated with. We have completed over 5000 contracts ranging in value from a few hundred dollars to in excess of two million dollars. On this page you will find information and some details about the work completed since the original company started in 1979.

While we have performed work in thought much of New Zealand and for companies in Australia, the UK, Antarctica and the USA, our focus is the Canterbury, Timaru and the West Coast areas. (You may wish to see our photos page for examples of the type of situations we can deal with).

Canterbury Region 

Christchurch International Airport - "Overseas" Terminal (early 1980's) and in 1997-8 New "International" Terminal.
All insulation for heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and hot water throughout these complexes was carried out. Products installed ranged from fibreglass pipe section and ductwrap to metal cladding to pipework, chimney, and chilled system. Critical path programming formed an important part of the installation of these works.

Christchurch Casino
The building of the Christchurch Casino was a project with tight deadlines and an expectation of the highest standards. We performed all insulation work.

Antarctic Centre
Another project performed to a tight deadline, our work in this building has actually been highlighted and can be observed in one of the observation sections.

Christchurch Hospital Redevelopment 1985-1995
This major project took nearly 10 years to complete and was one of the largest ever in the Canterbury region. Harcourt Insulation Limited performed all insulation services.

Shipping - Canterbury
An emergency service to Shipping calling at the Port of Lyttelton is provided. This includes urgent insulation repairs and asbestos removal.

Lyttelton Harbour Board Dredge - "Peraki".
Removal of Crocidolite and amosite asbestos from boiler and engine rooms proved a difficult task. Re-insulation of the boilers plant and pipework was completed using a range of products. Fire rating of the bulkheads was also completed. Work has also been carried out to the following vessels - "Wairangi" "Ruahine" and "Rapaki.”

Canterbury (NZ) Malting Co Ltd.
Work carried out to date includes — refrigeration system hot water recovery, compressor and ventilation equipment attenuation, removal of asbestos, and replacement with foamglas insulation.

Shell Oil (NZ) Ltd.
This is a major oil blending installation located in Woolston, Christchurch. Extensive insulation for oil heaters, traced pipework, blending agitator tanks, steam pipework and pumps, etc. This project included interior and exterior pipework and equipment - along with the requirements for the areas and conditions. Works have included everything from Fibreglass and ceramic fibre to flintkote and polyurethane foam. Sheetmetal finishes have also been applied.

BNZ Christchurch Office Redevelopment 
When this multi story building had the asbestos removed from the entire building our company was able to complete the work while meeting a tight schedule and the difficult requirement that the building remain open and occupied. Replacement of passive fire equipment was also carried out to the exposed steel structure.

University of Canterbury
From the insulation of the new Maths and Computer Sciences block to the removal of the asbestos in the Physics Chemistry building we have performed many projects at this site. This also included the changeover from Steam to HPHW throughout the whole complex that involved re-insulating the underground heating mains.

Timaru Region

Chemical Cleaning - South Island Depot.
One of the largest plants in the South Island this has insulated storage vessels that hold caustic soda. This work required the highest level in safety standards be maintained.

Timaru  - Shipping.
An emergency service to shipping calling at the Port of Timaru is provided. This includes urgent insulation repairs and asbestos removal.

Timaru - General.
We have and do carry out major works in the Timaru area and have regular calls and maintenance service to the district. Past works include - Alpine Dairy plant, DB Breweries, and Sanford Fisheries to name a few.
